Friendly
competition always adds to the excitement of any event, and
awards for doing well provide an added incentive to participate
in the various GoF West activities. Here follows a list of the
awards typically given at a GoF West, and the rules governing
each of them:
First-Timer's Car Display
Open to all registrants who are attending their first GoF West.
One award is given to the car voted best Pre-'56 MG in the
display. All registrants have a vote.
Car Display
Cars are divided into Pre-War, TC, TD, TF, Variant and Modern
classes. The number of awards given in each class depends on the
number of cars entered. All registrants vote on the cars, basing
their judgment on condition, presentation and miles driven to
the event. All 1st place winners in each of the Pre-'56 classes
will be entered in the Premier class at the next three GoF West
events for which they register. After that, they can return to
their regular class. There will be only a 1st place award for
the Premier class. Winners of the Premier class shall show "For
Display Only" in the Premier class at the next three GoF Wests
for which they register, then return to their regular class
after that.
Rally
Awards are given in Pre-1956 and Modern classes to both the
driver and the navigator. The number given depends on the number
of cars entered, but typically there will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd
in the Pre-1956 class and 1st only in the Modern class. At the
organizer's discretion, there may also be a "Dead Last But
Finished" award.
Funkhana
Depending on the number of entries, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
awards are given to the driver and navigator in the TC & earlier
(Cartsprung) class, and TD, TF & Variant (Coilsprung) class.
Only a 1st place is awarded in the Modern class.
High Point Award
This prestigious perpetual award is given to the participant
with a pre-1956 MG who accumulates the highest total point score
in the Car Display, Rally and Funkhana as determined by the
Awards Chairman. The winner receives a trophy and his/her name
is inscribed on a Perpetual trophy. To be eligible for this
award, participants must have entered and completed all three
events, use the same car and registration number for each event,
and have the same navigator in the Rally and Funkhana. If time
permits more than one run at the Funkhana, only the time of the
first run will count toward this award.
